THE CRAFT
Machines Can Knit.

Knit and crochet are often mistaken for one another, but they are made in entirely different ways — and only one of them can be replicated by a machine. That distinction matters more than most people realize when it comes to what a handmade piece is actually worth.
KNITTING
Two needles carry multiple loops across a row at once, in a motion that repeats identically, stitch after stitch. That repetition is exactly what industrial knitting machines were built to automate — most knitwear you own, sweater to sock, was made by one.
CROCHET
One hook pulls a single loop through the last, one stitch at a time, changing direction and tension constantly. That variability has no mechanical equivalent — there is no true crochet machine. What's sold as one only imitates the texture. Real crochet is formed by hand, every time.
